Just what is a repeating pattern?

Where would you find one?

At Christmas time you get presents.
Do you remember looking at the wrapping paper?
I doubt it, you were too busy getting at the presents inside.
But if you had, you might have seen something like this.

Or if you like the two together repeat.

If you called each picture an
ELEMENT

This is a two element repeating pattern.

 

 

You could take any clip art and make your own wrapping paper.

This is a 3 element repeating pattern.

Here is a very simple repeating pattern.

The images of the ballons were found on the internet.

If you use this you will not to need to worry about copyright.

Repeating Patterns

1. You will google for clip art or images and create a repeating pattern.

2. You will create hand drawn elements in textease
and then use the stamp tool to create the pattern.

3. You will create a geometric repeating pattern using the vector drawing tools in either word or textease.

4. You will learn to use the symmetry tool in textease to create a repeating pattern.

5. You may move on to creating repeating borders and tessellations and possibly Escher style tessellations.

 

And if you get really intersted in this you can become a designer.
