This is a photograph of Happisburgh coastline.
You can see where the sea has eaten at the cliffs.
At the end of the cliffs you can see houses that will soon go in the sea (apparently it’s coming in 10 metres in 19 weeks!)
You can see groynes that have been partly destroyed.

This photo is showing the rip-rap that is stopping
the sea so it doesn’t wreck the cliff.
It is also showing the wooden revetment that is broken.

You can see lots of rip-rap that is a sea defence
it is very close to the cliffs.

The large rocks called rip rap are stopping
the sea from getting to the cliffs.

The rock that you can see are called rip-rap and
do not come from Norfolk.
Rip-rap stops the big waves coming through.
We can see rip-rap, groynes all broken up, metal sticking
up from the sand and revetments.

These revetments keep the cliffs safe.
They put gaps in so the revetments don’t get destroyed
and have big bolts to hold them together.

This picture shows that the revetments have been worn away by the sea.

There are broken revetments which no longer
will protect the big cliff you can see in this picture.

This picture shows that the revetments are in a poor state,
the sea pounds the cliffs so they are being destroyed .
The groynes have been damaged by the sea in storms.

This picture is showing you that the cliff is falling down.
The revetments are broken and the sea is wearing away the cliff.

This picture is of Happisburgh beach it shows
where the sea has broken and worn away the revetment.

In this picture part of the revetment has been broken
by the sea and washed away.

This shows a boulder which is a hard stone used as a sea defence.

This shows a boulder which is used to protect the cliff from the sea.

In this photo it is showing a broken revetment and some rip-rap.

This is a remaining shelter from World War 2, this was once on the cliff, and it has since fallen on to Happisburgh beach.

The cliff is made out of clay, sand and mud.
When the sea is rough the cliffs get worn away.

This bit of the cliff has some grass on it .
In the picture there are groynes.

The bolt you can see is from a revetment.
The wooden part has been broken and washed away by the sea,

This shows a revetment, it slopes and weakens the powerful waves.
