Have you ever wondered why, sometimes Mundesley beach is covered with water and sometimes you can walk for miles on the sand?

We call it High Tide and Low Tide. How does it work?

To find out about tides, you need to know a little about the moon.

Does the moon go round the earth or is it the other way round?

How come the moon doesn't always look the same shape when you look up in the sky?

Time for a little investigation.
Can you look up in the sky every night for a month and draw a picture of the shape of the moon?

When you've done that take a look at this.

Then explore the links in Earth, Sun and Moon

So now you know a little about the moon.

What has this got to do with the tides.

For this you need to know a little about gravity, which you do because the apple has fallen on your head.

There was a man called Isaac Newton in 1657 who came up with the idea that the earth's gravity kept the moon in orbit.

But the moon's gravity has an effect on the earth in return.

You need to ask for the link for the next piece in this puzzle.
