Extra Curricular Clubs
Mundesley Junior School has a long and proud tradition of providing an extensive range of lunchtime sports clubs. We have purposely run clubs at lunchtime, rather than after school, as many of our children (up to a third) travel by bus from outlying villages and would therefore face significant transport problems if clubs took place after school. There would also be problems created in terms of clashes with school team fixtures, most of which take place after school.
The last three successive OFSTED reports have commented on the positive impact of the clubs on the children’s enthusiasm for, and achievement in, sport (See highlighted comments in last report enclosed). We feel very strongly that the popularity of our clubs reflects the desire of our children to further pursue interests generated by our curricular provision.
A list of clubs currently run during the school year appears overleaf.

Inter-School Sport
Although we are a comparatively small school, our record in competitive sport is one of which we are extremely proud, which extends back over many years and which we feel stands comparison with any in Norfolk. Our school teams have been Norfolk County Champions in girl’s football, boy’s football, girl’s cricket (twice), boy’s cricket (twice), tag rugby and hockey. In addition our teams have finished as County Runners-Up on several occasions.
Over the past year alone our teams were successful in winning eight competitions, including two Norfolk County Championships. Our Tag Rugby team narrowly missed out on reaching the National Finals.
In our last inspection, OFSTED reported as follows:
“Pupils and parents quite rightly value the remarkable array of lunchtime and after-school sporting activities which result in the success of girls and boys in competitions at the highest level.”
