HARVEST THOUGHTS 2009
Have you ever ‘Googled’ poverty?
If you did you would discover some stark facts.
Can you imagine 6 million children? I can’t, but that’s how many children, under 5, die from hunger every year.
24,000 people die every day from starvation.
That’s one person every 3.6 seconds.
How does that make you feel?
I wish I could I could change it, it makes me feel grateful for what I have.
I can’t imagine what the parents must be going through.
It makes me feel guilty; I can go out and buy a bottle of water when millions die from a lack of clean drinking water.
I want it to stop! Why do people just sit back and let this happen?
I wish the world would get better at sharing food fairly.
We take so much for granted.
People die because others won’t share.
Why are some countries forced to sell food to pay off debts, while the people starve?
It’s almost like stealing!
People should die peacefully with a loving family,
not through AIDS, Malaria and Starvation.
This is insane people of 2009, why
should people have to suffer
while we live like kings!
All I can say is why?
How did the world ever get this way?
I feel like a monster
I feel selfish
I feel lucky
In my mind I see suffering
I see death
I see torture
Inside I hear screams for help
I hear crying
I hear choking
I feel like crying
I feel like screaming.

SOARING HIGH
We are soaring high
Money everywhere
Clean water,
Why not them?
We are soaring high
Three meals a day
Snacks in between
Why not them?
We are starving
No food
Unclean water
I’d love a life like them.
We are hungry.
Will I die of malaria,
or will I starve?
I’d love a life like them.
Put yourselves in their lives,
Is there any point in living?
Don’t we all deserve an equal chance?
We could help, remember even small things
can make a big difference.

The Blessing
